All our services include blade cleaning; however, you can schedule a full cleaning by itself or in addition to any other services.
The full cleaning entails disassembling the sword and inspecting and deep cleaning each part individually.
By far the most common service- any sword that sees much use runs the risk of having the wrap loosen or the end knots come undone.
In a partial wrap, no additional materials are needed. We'll re-tie the end knots and ensure the wrap and all fittings are tight.
At some point in every sword's life, it comes time to re-wrap. Wear over time or damage render old material unusable.
The full wrap completely replaces the old wrap with new material and offers a high level of customizability.
The wrap can be almost any color and the material can be cotton, silk, synthetic silk, nubuck, suede, leather, or synthetic leather.
*Extra charge may apply to some materials, wrapping patterns, and tsuka above standard length (odachi, nagamaki, etc.)
The basic sharpen is the budget option to put a fine edge back on any blade, but it's also the best option for most knives and European style swords (anything with a secondary bevel)
Pricing is based on the length of the blade and whether it's single or double edged. For example a knife under 12" with a single edge would be $30 while a longsword might come out to $60
Not only does the edge of the blade dull over time, but the shine also.
For a machine polish, we'll use various buffing compounds to carefully restore a brilliant shine to your blade, removing any rust, residue, and small scratches.
For thousands of years, the blades of the samurai have been polished to a razor edge and a mirror finish over specialized whetstones.
Given a premium stone polish, your blade will be restored to greater shine and sharpness than ever before with finesse and tradition.
Most blades can be polished on flat stones, but Japanese blades and high end kitchen knives are most compatible. Some European swords have a hollow grind/concave profile and cannot be polished on a flat stone.
Swords are strong, but not invincible, and no swordsman is immune to damaging their blade.
Most damage short of a blade being broken in pieces can be repaired through some effort. Blade damages will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, but generally cost little to repair.
We carry a small but varied selection of swords from many different suppliers. Blades for any budget or purpose can always be found in our rotation.
